Cambodia will be sending 40
soldiers for possible joint military exercises in Mongolia.
"We soon will send our
soldiers to join the special mission to get more experience, more training
and better cooperation with other countries," Sar Chanthy, a senior
official at the Cambodian Council of Ministers, told the Xinhua news
agency.
While the mission is officially
being called "humanitarian" in nature, observers believe it
is, in fact, an opportunity to participate in military exercises with
Mongolian troops.
In June, Cambodia sent 139
soldiers to assist in disarming mines in Sudan. This operation was supervised
by the United Nations.
