Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito digs for fossils, meets with parents of Mongolian sumo Asashoryu

Crown Prince Naruhito of Japan

In the midst of an official
visit to Mongolia, Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito met the parents of
Mongolian sumo grand champion Asashoryu on Saturday in Kharkhorin.

Asashoryu's father, Dolgorsuren,
and mother, Purevbadam ushered the Prince into their ger where the
Prince mentioned his daughter Aiko’s devotion to following sumo wrestling.

Earlier in his trip, the Price
visited Mongolia's Natural History Museum and a paleontology center
in Ulaanbaatar.

At the museum he visited exhibits
on dinosaurs, dinosaur eggs and, in particular, enjoyed an exhibition
which included the skeletal remains of the carnivorous Tarbosaurs dinosaur.

At the paleontology center
he participated in digging for fossils. He noted the great amount of
patience it takes to perform such work.

Prince Naruhito is visiting
Mongolia to celebrate its 35th anniversary of establishing
diplomatic relations with Japan.
