Mongolian forces to train in counter terrorism in India

Mongolian armed forces will
be sent to India to learn anti-terror techniques from India's most elite
forces.

The focus of the military training
will be training to combat terrorism both in urban and rural areas.

Soldiers are taught to fight
unconventional war techniques that are most effective against terrorists.

"Conventional wars as
an instrument of state policy have become less relevant today. Sub-conventional
operations are emerging as the predominant form of warfare," a
senior officer told The Times of India.

"With India having fought
terrorism in J&K and North-East for decades, foreign armies are
very keen to learn from our experience, especially after the 9/11 terrorist
strikes," he added.

India's 1.13 million man army
is the third largest in the world. Political observers note that India
is offering this assistance to Asian nations to create a variety of
new allies as it becomes a global economic power.

No date for the Mongolian army
training has been announced.
