Prime Minister Enkhbold submits resignation to parliament

Mongolian Prime Minister Miegombyn
Enkhbold has submitted his resignation letter to the State Great Hural
(parliament) of Mongolia.

Enkhbold said in the Monday
letter that after losing the support of his own party, he could not
fulfill his responsibilities as Prime Minister.

Enkhbold chose to step down
following his defeat in the October election for the leadership of the
MPRP. Party official, Sanj Bayar, was elected party chairman and was
endorsed by party delegates to become the next Prime Minister

The MPRP, with more than 160,000
members, holds 39 seats in the 76-seat parliament and formed a coalition
government after Enkhbold was elected prime minister in January 2006.
