A Mongolian actor was recognized
at the recently completed Third Asian Festival of First Films.
Batzul Khayankhyarvaa of Mongolia
received the Best Male Performance award for his starring role in the
film “Khadak.”
The film is a study of the
impact of modernization upon Mongolians. Batzul plays a nomad whose
family is removed from its grazing lands and sent to a mining community
to live.
Batzul portrays a man having
visions of a doomed future as his family is offered employment in mining.
Batzul eventually goes mad due to the visions.
Khadak was written and directed
by Peter Brosens and Jessica Hope Woodworth
Besides Batzul Khayankhyarvaa,
acting in the film are Tsetsegee Byamba, Dugarsuren Dagvadorj, Banzar
Damchaa and Tserendarizav Dashnyam.
