In yet another indication of
its growing ties, Mongolia and China have announced they will create
“friendly county” relationships between local governments in each
country.
Announcing the program in Ulaanbaatur
on Monday, Chinese Ambassador Yu Hongyao said the first “friendly
county” program will be with the government of Ihtamir County in Mongolia’s
Ar Hangai province and Urdiin Hoit County located in China's Inner Mongolia.
It is hoped the cooperative
relationships between local governments will result in various types
of exchanges and opportunities to observe and learn about administering
local government.
