Mongolia will soon be purchasing
helicopters as part of the fleet maintained by the government.
On Monday, the Civil Aviation
Department of Mongolia awarded an acceptance certificate for the Russian-built
Mi-171 helicopters.
These helicopters, capable
of carrying either large passenger or cargo loads, are manufactured
at Russia’s Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant. It is not known how many helicopters
will be delivered to Mongolia.
Mongolia has become the fourth
country to order the helicopter, along with China, South Korea and Slovakia.
Ulan-Ude is the capital of
the Republic of Buryatia, which is located north of Mongolia in the
Asian region of Russia near Lake Baikal.
