Direct flights to link Mongolia and Russia in Baikal-Khovsgol lakes region

Russia and Mongolia have agreed
to establish tourist flights between the two countries in the Lake Baikal
region.

Following meetings earlier
in the week, G.Yondongombo from the Ministry of Road, Transport and
Tourism of Mongolia said an agreement had been reached with Russian
tourism officials.

Initial plans call for establishing
direct flights between Russia’s Lake Baikal and Mongolia’s Khovsgol
Lake.

Khovsgol Lake is located in
northwest Mongolia near the border to Russia, at the foot of the eastern
Sayan Mountains.

Some 40,000 tourists per year
visit the area.
