Ice Festival at the Khuvsgul Lake, Northern Mongolia

A two-day ice celebration was successfully organized on February 17-18
on the ice of the Lake of Khovsgol--in the area of Dood Modot Bulan in
Khatgal Village of Khovsgol Aimag. Such various events were organized
as sledge horse race, a relay skiing contest, and ice sumo, ice
anklebone shooting and fine driving competitions. The winners won gold,
silver and bronze medals and prizes of the sponsor companies. A free
talk on winter tourism development was also organized among the
officials of tour companies. The Deputy Premier of Mongolia,
M.Enkhsaikhan, who attended the ice celebration, said the Government
will render assistance to tourism companies in developing the winter
tourism.
