Unemployment up, as are newly created jobs, according to new data

Just released labor statistics
by the Bank of Mongolia show unemployment increased by 7.8 percent in
Mongolia, or 2,300 people, in the first half of 2008. 

The total number of unemployed
in the country is recorded at 32,200 people. These are people registered
for benefits and actively seeking employment.  

Of note, the report of the
National Statistics Committee detailed that monthly wages rose by 61.6
percent, or MNT 95.3 thousand, from the beginning of the year, reaching
MNT 250.0 thousand. 

Also, 22,000 new jobs were
created in Mongolia in 2008.
