Surplus cashmere to be purchased by government

Mongolia’s Parliament has
passed legislation to allow the government to purchase cashmere normally
not bought from herders.

The resolution will allow MNT
10 billion ($8.6 million) to be set aside as loans for companies to
purchase extra cashmere.

Government officials explained
that this money would be used to purchase surplus cashmere normally
not bought. In past years, as much as 2,378 tons of cashmere was left
unsold.

Companies to receive government
money as loans include Gobi Company, Sor Cashmere and Тuul Cashmere.
