Chinese milk products recalled from Mongolian stores; no reports of local children sickened

Following reports of Chinese
milk being tainted by the chemical melamine, Mongolia withdrew all products
from China’s Yilli imports on Saturday.

Over 50,000 Chinese infants
have been hospitalized due to the milk poisoning.

Mongolia imports 100 to 150
tons of milk from Yilli each month. Officials say Yilli serves some
20 percent of the Mongolian milk market.

Many Mongolians use Yilli products,
especially for school children.

Health officials have noted
that there have been no reports of Mongolian children being sickened
by Chinese milk imports.
