Train preparing to cross Mongolia on weekly run from Asia to Europe

Trains will run
through Mongolia as they bring cargo from Asia to Europe and back
again.

The Eurasian
Landbridge train will be fully operational before the end of the
year.

A trial run is
underway now as shipments of computers are heading to Europe, having
originated in China.

Published reports
indicate that Fujitsu Siemens Computers chose rail because it is much
cheaper than airfreight and quicker than the 30 to 35 days it takes
to ship by sea. “Compared with airfreight, rail transport saves
us roughly a quarter of the costs and also 95 percent of CO2
emissions,” said a Fujitsu official.

The Eurasian
Landbridge train is scheduled to make weekly or twice-weekly runs
from China through Mongolia, Russia, Belarus and Poland.

Mongolia is a so called land locked country because it doen\'t have direct access to ports. But indeed rail transport is not only reliable it is much more environment friendly than transport by sea. This transport train service will bring Mongolia closer again to their \"closest\" third neighbour: The European Union which has benefited Mongolia with a list of over 700 products that can be imported free from any import tax into the EU! I hope Mongolian companies will focus on the opportunities this gives when the would improve the quality and standardization of Mongolian made products.
