Mongolian officials attended the first-ever business forum, called the Silk Road Forum, held October 16-19 in Turkey. The event brought together representatives of 23 Asian and European countries.
The Silk Road, which will run through Mongolia, is a rail and road link to bring goods from Asia directly to Europe. Using the Silk Road will allow cargo to arrive in Europe at less cost and much quicker than sending cargo by ocean-going ships.
Discussions and reviews of running gas and oil pipelines were held, as well as the creation of business and tourism networks between the countries participating in the Silk Road network.
The countries also agreed to organize a forum each year.
