Mongolian passports used by Korean phone thieves, police apprehend thieves

South Korean police have broken up a ring using Mongolian passports to purchase thousands of pre-paid cellular telephones.

Cheongju Sangdang Police reported arresting four Koreans who had stolen, then forged, thousands of copies of Mongolian passports to purchase pre-paid phones for clients.

Besides Mongolian passports, police found an unknown quantitiy of Chinese and Indonesin passports on the scene.

``They sold the phones to credit defaulters at higher than market prices, reaping thousands in illegal profit,'' a police official said.
