A student advocacy group based
in Ulaanbaatar has issued a report urging Mongolia become a worldwide
center for the use of windmills to generate electricity.
Issued by the ‘Hobby On Task’
Student Advocacy Group, the report urges Mongolia to veer away from
using its plentiful coal for generating electricity and turning to renewable
methods such as wind power.
Entitled “The Feasibility
of Renewable Energy Sources for Mongolia,” the report recommends continuing
to mine and sell coal and uranium to generate revenues for the state.
At the same time, it strongly urges creating wind generation within
Mongolia.
“By being on the leading
edge of technological development, Mongolia stands to become an international
fulcrum of renewable energy design and implementation strategies.
The profits from such an endeavor are significantly greater than any
money that could be earned by selling natural resources,” notes the
report.
