A five-day Mongolian film festival will take place next week in Pune, India.
The festival, entitled, “From the land of Genghis Khan to Pune,” will run from July 11 to 15.
The festival will present feature films and documentaries that focus on life in Mongolia from various perspectives. The inauguration of the festival will be attended by Mongolian ambassador V Enkhbold and Dilip Dandekar, vice-president of the honorary consulate of Mongolia.
The festival will open with Naadam,' a 37-minute documentary about the Mongolian national festival. Other films include Across the Homeland of Chinggis Khan, Old Capital Khar Khorin', about the vast and powerful empire of the Mongol empire during the 13th century and The Art of Blue Sky', a 30-minute ballet by contemporary Mongolian dancers.
The 2005 Academy Award-nominated feature film, The Story of Weeping Camel, speaks about the man-animal relationship in nomadic clans and I Love You, released in 2008, is a modern-day comedy. Among black and white offerings is Tsogt Taij (1958), about a Mongolian hero's fight for a nationalist vision.
