Foodstuffs Consumer Index Drops in Mongolia

Ulaanbaatar, /MONSTAME/ In March of 2006, the consumer price index
increased by 43.0 percent compared with the end of 2000 (base period),
by 5.8 percent from the corresponding period of previous year, by 2.5
percent from the end of previous year and decreased by 0.4 percent
compared with previous month. In March of 2006, the prices of foodstuff
group decreased by 0.8 percent and housing, heating, electricity group
by 1.7 percent. As a result of these decreases, the overall index fell
by 0.4 percent. Prices of clothing and footwear group remained stable,
and prices of other groups increased by 0.6-1.6 percent. In March of
2006, the consumer price index decreased by 0.2-2.6 percent in
Sukhbaatar, Khovsgol, Dornod aimags compared to the previous month.
Prices in Dundgovi aimag remained stable, in the rest aimags consumer
price index increased by 0.1-2.0 percent.
