Archaeologists discover permafrost mummy with fur coat.

Research workers of the German
archaeological institute have discovered a mummy in permafrost at excavation work in Mongolia of approximately 2,500 years old. At the
"sensational find" of a sepulchre chamber of the Scythian rider
people a crew of the German television sender ZDF were
present. In front of the camera the archaeologists opened the sepulchre where the mummy
of the Scythian soldier was stored. The mummy, conserved in permafrost, carried still a fur coat and had a decorated gilded
head ornament. According to the scientists the discovery is similar
with those of the legendary Ötzi in 1991, and the tattooed siberian ice princess from 1993.

Oh yeah, it\'s true! I saw it on Mongolian tv stations. Even mongolian president paid a visit on that sight. They had a ground hog or monmat skin clothings. That animal is still popular in mongolioan wild. I think they found it in the most western province of Mongolia. Which is close to Kazakhstan and Xinjian of china. I never know scythians came this far east. Interesting...

With all the hype about the use of DNA Testing in the search of one\'s roots - and the debunking of some about its accuracy - and given the fact of the remarkable state of this truely remarkable find, I wonder if the Scyth Warrior\'s DNA might become available for comparative studies. According to oral history my family is of Mongolian descent [yes Genghis Khan] and comes from the Bilsk area north of Poltava in the Ukraine where there are excavations underway at the site of the ancient walled city of HELON [GELON in Ukrainian] as described by Herodotus?

Frozen Tombs of Siberia by Rudenko covers a similar earlier find on the Russian side of the Altai mountains. Our company adopted one of the tattoos from one of the mummies as our company logo. boojum.com/snark.html This same creature is depicted on a felt rug (and a Mongolian postage stamp) apparently being used as a domestic animal in the hunt. What I find curious and would be interested to know, is the significance of the \"bird head\" structures on the neck of the logo. these are consistent on the image from the rug as well as being consistent on the other animals depicted in the tattoos on the mummy. They seem to me to be an addition that is not part of the realistic depiction of the animals. I would suggest that it indicates domestication of the animal depicted. Kent Madin
