The new state budget has allocated MNT 167 million for the state orchestra.

Formally called the Great State Orchestra, it was created last year by the government. It employs 120 musicians and will perform a concert during the Naadam national holiday to run July 11-12.

Money will be spent this year on upgrading musical instruments and purchasing clothing for musicians to wear during concerts.

Historians note that the state orchestra also existed during the reign of Khubilai Khan. More than 400 musicians, at that time, participated in state events and important ceremonies.
