Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. The UNESCO Mongolian National Commission, the Noyon Khutugtu Fund and the Uv Erdene Fund have made a decision to celebrate worldwide the 150th anniversary of the death of Gobi Noyon Khutugtu Duldiut Danzanravjaa this year. The above measure is among 63 special occasions scheduled by the UNESCO to be organized this year. According to the report by L.Odonchimed, a member of the Parliament and Head of the Noyon Khutugtu Fund, the UNESCO will grant 20 thousand USD for the jubilee celebration. This aid will be spent on the translation of the masterpieces of D.Danzanravjaa from Tibetan into Mongolian and into English. The translated works will be sent to the world famous libraries. Moreover, the US Embassy to Mongolia will render 20 thousand USD in aid for the reconstruction of the Museum for Noyon Khutugtu Danzanravjaa. The Demchig Temple, created by D.Danzanravjaa, will also be reconstructed with 20 thousand USD financial aid to be given by the Canadian Ivanhoe Mines company. A total of 15 measures have been planned to be carried for and during the anniversary celebration.

Odriin Sonin reports: Danzanravjaa "Saint Lord of Gobi" was born in 1803 in the Shuvuun Shand of the Gobi Mergen district of Tusheet Khan province and soon was recognized as a prodigy, writing and performing his own music at age four.
In 1811, in recognition of his extraordinary intellectual and artistic abilities, local religious authorities bestowed on him the title of fifth reincarnation of the Gobi Noyon Khutagt, Mongolian educator and literary figure Danzanravjaa completed his basic training in Buddhist literature, art, religion and philosophy by the early 1820s. Thereafter he established the three monasteries of Galbyn Uul, all of which became local centres of culture, art, and education. Danzanravjaa gave considerable attention to the development of Khamar Monastery in particular, where he established a professional theatre and touring company, public library, museum, and primary school-all of which reflected his serious commitment to the cause of public education. Khamaryn Monastery lies an hour south of Sainshand, administrative centre of the East Gobi.

Ulaanbaatar, /MONTSAME/. A fine art exhibition of a young Mongolian artist Ts.Boldbaatar has been opened in the Fine Art Museum named after D.Zanabazar. The exhibition, which will last for a week, display more than 30 works of the young artist featuring the changes of any phenomena and human life.

Under the Cultural "Grass Root" non-refundable aid of the Japanese Government, the Central Cultural Palace of Ulaanbaatar will be provided with 83 thousand and 590 USD sound equipment. The Palace, opened in 1987, has put its request to the Japanese Government due to its out- dated sound equipment. The above aid that is being carried out for the first time in Mongolia is a financial assistance toward supporting a cultural and educational development of developing countries.

Residents from eight soums in Bayankhongor Province, besides big food industries of Mongolia, will participate in the fair to sell their products at lower prices.
