American ‘Dulaan Project’ knits clothing for Mongolian orphans
Wednesday, 30 May 2007
A group of former American
Peace Corp members are knitting clothes for orphaned Mongolian children.
The group, which resides in
north Florida, is gathering to knit hats, scarves, mittens, sweaters,
and ponchos for Mongolian children ages six to 12. They also collect
money to be sent to the children.
The program for knitting has
been designated the Dulaan Project, which is headquartered in Flagstaff,
Arizona.
Explaining the purpose of knitting
in their literature, the group says, “Dulaan is the Mongolian
word for warm. Think of it not just being physically warm, but also
the warm heart of human love, and the warm feeling that grows from knowing
that you have touched a life, even on the other side of the world.”

The goal of the Mongolian River Resources website is to provide information on a wide spectrum of topics related to natural resource use and the environment in Mongolia. This includes issues within Mongolia, and relevant international information and experiences. The need for information pertinent to the environment, ecology, and resource use, available to a broad audience with diverse interests and needs, was identified during the initial year of The Asia Foundation’s Securing Our Future program.
