Mongolia's New Ministers for 2006 Cabinet PDF Print E-mail

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia Web News. Montsame press agency reports new government members were discussed at a plenary meeting of the Parliament between 7 p.m. of January 27 and 4 am of January 28. The session resulted in 16 cabinet members being appointed. The Prime Minister was alreadt approved at an irregular meeting of the Parliament Session on January 25, one minister was not approved by the parliament.

  1. Parliament member M.Enkhsaikhan (Demparty) is appointed the Deputy Premier of Mongolia;
  2. a member of the Governing Board of the Motherland Party I.Erdenebaatar--the Minister of Environment;
  3. Parliament member J.Narantsatsralt (Demparty)--the Minister of Construction and Urban Development;
  4. Parliament member M.Sonompil (Demparty)--the Minister of Defense;
  5. a coordinator of the "Tradition-Reform-Democracy-Justice" group at the Mongolian People s Revolutionary Party O.Enkhtovshin--the Minister of Education, Culture and Sciences;
  6. Parliament member N.Enkhbold--the Minister of Foreign Affairs, MPRP;
  7. Parliament member Ts.Tsengel--the Minister of Roads, Transportation and Tourism, MPRP;
  8. Parliament member L.Odonchimed--the Minister of Social Welfare and Labor, MPRP;
  9. Parliament member N.Bayartsaikhan--the Minister of Finance, MPRP;
  10. Parliament member B.Erdenebat (Motherland party)--the Minister of Fuel and Energy;
  11. B.Jargalsaikhan (Republican party)--the Minister of Industry and Commerce;
  12. Parliament member D.Odbayar-- Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs, MPRP;
  13. D.Terbishdagva - the Minister of Food and Agriculture, MPRP;
  14. L.Gundalai (People s party)--the Minister of Health.

The Minister of Food and Agriculture D.Terbishdagva, who used to work in previous government, was re-appointed, the acting Minister for emergency affairs U.Khurelsukh was appointed the Minister for professional inspection affairs, and Su.Batbold, who was previously the Minister of Justice and Internal Affairs, was appointed Chief of the Cabinet Secretariat. The secretary-general of the Motherland Party N.Chuluunbaatar, a candidate for the Minister for emergency affairs, was not appointed because of minority of voters. In connection with the appointment of new ministers, acting ministers were removed from their positions, most of them . According to laws, the Prime Minister shall nominate one of the newly appointed ministers to the position of the Minister for emergency affairs, and shall offer another candidate for this empty position to the Parliament within a week. Vice Premier of Mongolia Mendsaikhanii Enkhsaikhan

Born 1955 in Ulaanbaatar. Graduate of the State University in Kiev. Doctor of Economics Sciences. Speaks Russian and English. 1978-1988 economist, research fellow, deputy department chief in the Ministry of Foreign Trade. 1989-1990 Director of the Market Research Institute, 1990-1992 MP and Standing Committee Chairman, 1993-1996 Chairman of the Presidential Office, 1996-1998 Prime Minister of Mongolia, 1998-2003 Director of Premier International Co., 2003-2005 Chairman of the Democratic Party, from 2004 MP and Chairman of the Security and Foreign Policy Standing Committee. Environment Minister Ichinkhorloogiin Erdenebaatar

Born 1960 in Hovd. Graduate of Construction Ingeneering Institute of Novosibirsk, and Russian Academy of Economics. Doctor of Economics Science. Speaks Russian and English. 1984-1990 engineer in Ulaanbaatar Construction Trust, 1990-1994 Chief engineer in Ulaanbaatar Housing Plant, 1994-2004 engineer in BTT Engineering Co., Erel Co., 2004-2005 Member of the Government for Professional Control. Married.

 

Construction and City Building Minister Janlaviin Naratsatsralt

Born in 1957 in Ulaanbaatar. Graduate of the State University of Belorussia. Doctor of Geographical Science, political researcher. Graduated of University of Land Organization, Moscow and the Mongolian National University. Speaks Russian and English. 1981-1989 engineer in Ministry of Agriculture, 1989-1991 research fellow in Environment Institute, 1991-1996 expert, department Chief in Ulaanbaatar City Mayor’s Office, 1996-1998 Ulaanbaatar City Mayor, 1998-1999 Prime Minister of Mongolia, 1999-2000 Lecturer and Visiting Professor at Mongolian National University, 2000 and 2004 MP, 2006 Parliament Standing Committee Chairman. Defense Minister Mishigiin Sodnompil

Born in 1965 in Tes soum of Uvs aimag. Graduate of Army Institute. Speaks Russian and English. Master in Military Science. 1988-1993 Deputy Commander in Army Unit, 1993-2004 President of Zaluu Mongol Corporation, from 2004 MP. Married.

 

  

Education, Culture and Science Minister Ulziisaikhanii Enkhtuvshin.

Born in 1958 in Huvsgul. Graduate of the Mongolian National University and Moscow Party Social Sciences Academy. Doctor of History. Speaks Russian and English. 1980-1986 research fellow at Social Sciences Institute of the MPRP, 1989-1990 senior research fellow at same institute, 1990-1995 department chief, secretary of the Ardyn Erkh newspaper, 1995-1996 Chairman of Mongolian Radio and TV Authority, 1996-1997 MPRP Secretary, Ulaanbaatar City MPRP Central Committee Chairman, 2000-2004 MP and Head of the Government Secretariat. Foreign Minister Nyamaagiin Enkhbold

Born in 1957 in Uliastai. Graduate of Moscow Printing Institute, Moscow Party Institute and Sydney University. Master in Management Science. Speaks Russian and English. Married. 1979-1980 economist in Ministry of Culture, 1980-1986 expert in Ministry of Culture, 1990-1993 deputy director of Ulaanbaatar Printing House, 1993-1995 Advisor to Vice Premier, 1997-2000 Press Speaker of the President, from 2000 MP. Road, Transportation and Tourism Minister Tsegmidiin Tsengel

Born in 1957 in Mogod soum of Bulgan aimag. Graduate of Ural Polytechnical University. Doctor in Technical Sciences. Born in 1942 in Delgerekh soum of Dornogobi aimag. Graduate of Medical University. Doctor of Medical Science and Carl University in Praha.
