Turkey no longer to seek visas from Mongolians entering Turkey PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 31 July 2007
ImageMongolian citizens will no longer need a visa when visiting Turkey.

Turkey unilaterally enacted this visa restriction on Sunday for visitors from Mongolia as well as Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan as it seeks to improve relations with Central Asian countries.

The Turkish action runs contrary to European Union requests for Turkey to continue requiring visas. Indeed, Turkey would have to reverse this policy if it became an EU member.

Last year, Turkey and Georgia jointly eliminated visa requirements for citizens visiting each other’s countries for no longer than 90 days. The action with Mongolia covers visits for 30 days or less.

Mongolia continues to require visas from Turkish visitors entering the country.
