Mongolia said it would join other northeast Asian countries in creating joint regional development projects.

Attending the Northeast Asia Investment and Trade Expo on Sunday in Changchun, China, Enkhsaikhan Mendsaikhany, deputy primer minister of Mongolia said Mongolia would participate in the joint infrastructure improvements to assist neighboring countries in reaching economic goals.

China announced plans to rebuild its old northeast industrial base in 10 to 15 years. At the same time, Russia said it would be investing over $22 billion in projects in its far eastern provinces.

The goal of the conference was to reach agreement among those countries involved to seek regional, rather than only national interests, as it determines how to invest in the future.

Countries attending the conference included Mongolia, China, Russia, South Korea, North Korea and Japan.
