An Australian has finished
a three-year trek beginning in Mongolia and ending in Hungary.
Tim Cope, 28, sought to retrace
the steps of nomadic peoples who made their way from Central Asia to
Europe. He traveled the 10,000 kilometers on horseback, accompanied
by two pack horses and a dog.
Cope began his adventure in
Mongolia in June 2004 and traveled through Kazakhstan, southern Russia,
Ukraine and, for the last two months, Hungary.
"I'm feeling a bit panicky
about finishing because I can't imagine saying goodbye to the horses,"
Cope told the Melbourne Herald Sun. "It's become my way of life
for the last three years."
