Following a very impressive
showing, Mongolia was defeated in the World Junior Chess Championship
on Saturday.
Taking place in Yerevan, Armenia,
the tournament brings the best young chess players in the world together
to compete.
Mongolia’s Bathuyag Mongontuul
had advanced to the prestigious tenth round at the tournament when she
was defeated by India’s D. Harika. However, it took 46 moves for Harika
to defeat Mongontuul.
Harika takes over as sole leader
of the tournament following the surprise defeat of Russia’s Vera Nebolsina
who was defeated by fourth seed Jolanta Zawadzka and slipped to the
second spot.
