Erdene Gold Inc. (TSX:ERD)
has discovered a significant new molybdenum zone in southern Mongolia.
Molybdenum is a metallic element used to toughen alloy steels and soften
tungsten alloy. It is also an essential additive in plant nutrition
and is used in fertilizers, dyes, and enamels.
The zone has been discovered
at Erdene’s Zuun Mod site in Mongolia. Working within the site’s
northern zone, the newest molybdenum discovery measured over 258 meters
in depth.
"Zuun Mod continues to
demonstrate exceptional potential for the development of a very large
near surface molybdenum resource on the doorstep of the fastest growing
molybdenum market in the world," said Peter Akerley, President
and CEO of Erdene.
