Wednesday will see the final
session of the 25th congress of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary
Party (MPRP) being held in Ulaanbaatur.
During Monday’s opening session,
Prime Minister M. Enkhbold, chairman of the MPRP, said reforming the
party and continued economic progress are the two major concerns of
the party.
The MPRP, Mongolia’s largest
political party, holds 39 seats in the 76-seat Mongolian parliament
and formed a coalition government after Enkhbold was elected prime minister
in January 2006.
The party congress was attended
by 678 MPRP members. Before adjourning, the congress is also expected
to elect a new central committee and amend the party’s constitution.
