Wednesday, 28 November 2007

Image  Kuwait will fund the construction and equipping of a public library in Ulaanbaatar. The announcement was made during a state visit to Kuwait by Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar.

In an announcement in Kuwaiti-run media, it was stated that “….His Highness, the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, showed the Mongolian President a model of a Kuwaiti-granted national public library in Mongolia. The State of Kuwait will set up a public library in the Mongolian capital, Ulaanbaatar, at its expense in the coming period as a gift from the Kuwaiti people to the Mongolian people.”

No further details about the proposed library were released.

In discussions during the visit, a memo of understanding was signed by the two countries pledging additional bilateral assistance in energy exploration and development. The memo was signed by the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and the Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia.

Kuwait and Mongolia also pledged to support each other in international organizations.
