15 year old Mongolian girl who thought
was going to Macao to work has realised that she has become a victim
of human trafficking. News which have been appearing in recent
newspapers that a girl sending text messages to her mum asking for
help has been proved to be true. Employee of Gender Equality Centre
has confirmed this and added that judging by the text messages girl
is in a very difficult situation at the moment. After a month since
she has sent her message alerting that she has become a victim of
human trafficking a message has been received which said that her
tongue has been cut out. It is possible that people who bought the
girl have cut her tongue to make sure she wouldn’t talk. Gender
Equality Centre is in touch with girl’s mother and trying to help
the girl to return home. It is urged that organisations and
legal authorities get involved as soon as possible to save the child
since it may get too late if not already. Gender Equality Centre NGO has released
that so far 218 women from Mongolia have become victims of human
trafficking. Usually these women are promised a job abroad and sold
into prostitution by people profiting from this trade.
