Lehman, Lee & Xu, with
law offices in Mongolia and elsewhere in Asia, will open China’s first
legal aid clinic. The clinic will provide free legal assistance to those
who cannot afford access to lawyers and courts.
Edward Lehman, the firm’s
managing director, noted that he has seen dramatic economic success
for China and many of its citizens in recent years.
In a statement, the firm said,
“For those less fortunate, access to justice has been slow. Inspired
by the legal tradition in the United States, the clinic is designed
to not only provide services for these individuals, but also to be a
model for other law firms and lawyers in China's developing legal market.”
Edward Lehman is a long-time
China resident, and is considered a leading expert on corporate law
with 20 years of practice experience in China.
