Candian-based SouthGobi Energy has announced that exploration at its Tsagaan Tolgoi, also called or "White Hill," coal project indicates nearly 45 million tons of coal are available to be mined at the site.

This coal will be used to produce energy needed when mining for copper and gold begins at Oyu Tolgoi.

Oyu Tolgoi, to be developed by Ivanhoe Mines Ltd., is located 115 kilometers from Tsagaan Tolgoi.

Coal at Tsagaan Tolgoi has been found in a basin some four by 20 kilometers in size covering an area of 8,820 hectares.
