During his first full day in
office, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak met Tuesday with Mongolian
President Nambaryn Enkhbayar.
Following their meeting it
was announced that both countries had agreed to expand ties in energy,
biotechnology and well as more generalized technology.
Mongolia and South Korea established
diplomatic relations in 1990. Making much of their shared historic,
cultural and ethnic values, South Korea has sought to tap into Mongolia’s
energy wealth.
The South Korean President
also met on Tuesday with Cambodian President Hun Sen and Uzbek President
Islam Karimov.
Currently there are 20,400
Mongolian workers living in South Korea.
