This year, under the Livestock Health Program, a total of 21.8 million
heads of livestock will be involved in 29 kinds of vaccines and
drenches. Moreover, 7.3 million heads of livestock will be vaccinated
for the prevention from contagious parasite disease, and 686.5 thousand
heads will undergo medical inspections for contagious diseases. Last
year, more than 50 million heads of livestock (with double counting)
were involved in the preventive measures run by vethospitals. As a
result, the spread of contagious livestock diseases decreased by four
percent, livestock illnesses--by 12.4 percent, and a number of
livestock infected with parasite diseases declined by 30.5 percent
