A Mongolian and a Chinese university
have joined forces to teach Chinese language classes in Mongolia.
During a Friday ceremony, the
Confucius Institute was opened in Ulaanbaatur by the Mongolian National
University and China’s Shandong University.
Officials note that the institute
will teach Chinese language classes as well as provide increased information
about Chinese culture and its people.
Interest in Chinese language
has been growing in Mongolia and more than 40 schools now offer lessons
in Chinese, according to Tserensodnom Gantsog, president of the Mongolian
National University.
In the year before its grand
opening, the Mongolian Confucius Institute trained more than 200 Mongolian
students.
