State Prizes awarded during Ulaanbaatar ceremony PDF Print E-mail

Mongolian President N.Enkhbayar awarded state awards to citizens in a ceremony in Ulaanbaatar last week. Composer P.Khayankhyarvaa was awarded the title of People's Artist for what the President called his contribution to the development of the musical art of Mongolia. B.Purevdash, the Director of Mongolian Public Radio, was honored as a State Honored Cultural Figure. Finally, Chinbat Ochir, Chief-Editor of the "News of Mongolia", received Mongolia’s North Star award. “News of Mongolia” is published in Russian by the state-owned MONTSAME News Agency. It was founded in 1942.

Akira KAMIMURA, lecturer, faculty of Mongolian studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies launched an innovative website on old Mongolian manuscripts maps in cooperation with the state archive of Mongolia. It contains 16 precious maps which are stored at the state archive for academic use. The oldest map was estimated being made in 1803-1805.
