Spring crop details announced by officials PDF Print E-mail

Mongolian officials have announced details of the spring planting of the nation’s farm crops. 

Officials said crops would be planted on 153.9 thousand hectares throughout Mongolia. Of this, potatoes will be planted on 11.5 thousand hectares, vegetables on seven thousand hectares, and fodder plants on five thousand hectares.  

A hectare equals 2.471 acres or 10,000 sq. meters. 

Other details released included that Mongolia will plant 24.9 thousand tons of seeds this spring. 

Mongolian officials also announced that Ts.Gankhuyag, Minister of Food and Agriculture, is to begin programs to turn virgin lands into arable land for farming.
