Mongolia recognizes World Day Against Child Labor on Thursday. PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 13 June 2008

A one-year campaign was inaugurated Thursday to fight child labor practices in Mongolia through education and legislation. Organizations involved in the campaign include the Committee for Youth and Children, the Association of School Social Workers and the International Labor Organization.

Statistics on Mongolia indicate 71,330 children are ‘economically active’ or employed in child labor, while 8,775 children are school dropouts.

While no figures are available, there are also children employed in gold and coal mines in Mongolia.
