2,300 year old mummy to be returned to Mongolia |

 A 2,300 year-old mummy is to
be returned to Mongolia following the remains being studied by German
scientists.
Found in the Altai Mountains
in 2006, the mummy is the preserved body of a Scythian, along with his
possessions. Scythian were horse-riding nomads who dominated the area,
particularly from 600 BC to 300 AD.
The mummy was found inside
a burial chamber on the Mongolian side of the Altai Mountains. A permanent
ice block underneath the tomb kept the air dry, guaranteeing the remains
were well preserved.
Scientists say the mummy, as
man age 50 to 60 years, suffered from a degenerative bone disease, such
as arthritis.
It is not known whether the
mummy will be placed on display when returned to Mongolia.
