Mongolian and Chinese military officials held their third Defense Security Consultation in Ulaanbaatar Wednesday. Issues discussed included the regional security situation, international peacekeeping, bilateral ties and other joint concerns, according to officials.

Attending the sessions were Assistant chief of the general staff of China's People's Liberation Army, Chen Xiaogong, and state secretary of the Mongolian Defense Ministry, M. Borbaatar.

Following the meeting, Chen said cooperation between the two countries’ militaries in the areas of high-level exchanges, personnel training, and frontier defense had been highly effective and helped promote bilateral relations.

Prior to the meetings, Mongolian Defense Minister Jamiyandorj Batkhuyag met with Chen Xiaogong.

The first Defense Security Consultation between China and Mongolia was held in 2004.
