Census figures shows 17% population increase |

Newly released population figures
show Mongolia’s population has increased 17.5 percent since 2000.
The National Statistical Office
reports Mongolia’s current population at 2,673,500 people. In 2000,
the census reported the country’s population at 2,273,500.
The country’s next census
is planned for 2010. The country anticipates the cost for the census
will be $11.7 million.
