Mongolia's UN peacekeeping activities PDF Print E-mail

The officials of the Headquarters of the Mongolian Armed Forces have called a press conference titled Mongolian military troops in peacekeeping activities in the Information Center of the Mongol News company. Major General Ts.Togoo, Head of the Headquarters of the Mongolian Armed Forces, said Mongolia successfully implements its goal to change the Armed Forces into professional and skilful troops. At present, a total of 380 Mongolian military troops, sergeant majors and officers are studying in 19 countries. The number of contracted military troops has increased extremely, reaching 1,120. Mongolian military contingents have successfully performed their duties since 2002 in the UN peacekeeping activities and international military operations. Since 2003, five military contingents of a total of 694 troops have successfully participated in the Freedom of Iraq international military operation. The sixth military contingent of 100 troops will shortly leave for Iraq. As well, 250 military troops and officers are successfully taking part with the UN mandate in the peacekeeping activities in Sierra Leone, Africa.
