March's Biobeers will be held this Thursday 2 March, at the usual time and place: 6.30 pm at Xericon Restaurant (located between the Hydrometeorology Building and the CIA). This month's speaker will be Jim Wingard who will talk about 'Silent steppe: the illegal wildlife trade crisis in Mongolia'.
Biobeers is a monthly gathering of government and NGO staff, biologists, researchers, and other professionals interested in conservation. Each month, Biobeers sponsors a half-hour presentation on a topic relevant to Mongolian conservation, followed by an informal gathering to discuss activities and issues of interest. Biobeers is an opportunity to find out what is happening in the field of conservation in Mongolia, talk informally to other researchers and peers in your field, and share information about issues critical to the environment and people of Mongolia.
At Biobeers the beer is on us!
To give an idea of the topics covered in Biobeers, every month we will now post to the list an abstract of the previous month's talk (upon agreement from the authors). For those who were there it can be a reminder, and for those who were not, you can open a can of beer and pretend you were! The abstract will also be linked to from the Biobeers page of the Steppe Forward Programme website: www.steppeforward.com.
