Mongolian workers to be offered cash, free ride home from Czech Republic PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 06 February 2009

ImageThe Czech Republic plans to offer a free ticket home and a EUR 500 cash bonus to 7,500 foreign workers from Mongolia.

This decision comes following the downturn in the Czech economy as the impact of the worldwide financial crisis is felt in central Europe.

Government officials believe the majority of foreign workers in the Czech Republic will lose their jobs during the first quarter of 2009.

"It will be cheaper than if the people stay here illegally and we have to deport them," Interior Ministry spokeswoman Jana Malikova told the AFP news agency about the plan, dubbed "Aid to Foreigners."
