HealthThe number of live births in the first 2 months of 2006 reached
7.5 thousand. This shows increase of 7.4 percent or 517 births compared
to the same period of the previous year.In the meantime the number of
maternal deaths was 4, and the number of infant mortality under the age
of 1 stood at 189 hence showing an increase of 1.1 percent or 2 infant
mortality compared to the same period of the previous year . There was
an decrease in under five mortStatistics 2006ality reaching 43 which is lower by 23.2
percent or 13 children.On a national average the infant mortality rate
under the age of 1 per 1000 live births was 25. This rate was higher
than the national average in Arkhangai, Bayan-Olgii, Bayankhongor,
Dornogovi, Dornod, Zavkhan, Sukhbaatar, Uvs and Khuvsgul, aimags.The
number of infectious diseases was 5.2 thousand showing an increase of
670 infections compared to the same period of the previous year. To be
specific, the number of persons infected by gonorrhea declined by 31.0
percent. However, the number of persons infected by trichomniasis
increased by 5.3 percent, tuberculosis by 7.7 percent, viral hepatitis
by 8.4 percent, varicella by 36.5 percent and syphilis by 59.7 percent
respectively.As of the first 2 months in 2006, total deaths were 2.8
thousand and 24.2 percent of total deaths was in the hospital. Total
101.7 thousand persons took treatment.
CrimeThe total number of crimes
committed as of the first 2 months of 2006 was 2727, as decreased by
8.6 percent compared to the same period of previous year. Decreases
were recorded in death due to unfortunate occasion 13.0 percent, crime
against ownership right 17.0 percent, of which theft of property 14.6
percent, mugging 15.4 percent, forgery 33.8 percent, robber 36.2
percent, crime against military service 40.0 percent, crime against
judicial procedure 42.1 percent, crime against child, family and social
morality 53.0 percent and other 30.0 percent.But increases were
recorded in crime against human life and health (or physical
well-being) 0.4 percent, crime against social safety 5.4 percent, crime
against population health 14.3 percent, crime against traffic safety
and use 19.0 percent, crime against environmental protection 28.6
percent, occupational related crime 35.7 percent, and crime against
political and other rights and freedom of individuals 2 times.The crime
caused 2.8 billion togrogs worth of damage, from which 62.2 percent or
1.7 billion togrogs are damage of individual property and 25.3 percent
of total damages was restituned. IndustryIn the first 2 months of 2006,
the total industrial output was 225.1 bln.togrogs at current price and

has been increased by 0.2 percent –3.2 times for electricity, thermal

products, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, manufacture
of basic metals, manufacture of furniture, manufacturing n.e.c
divisions and declined by 0.1-97.7 percent for publishing, printing and
reproduction of recorded media, manufacture of food products and
beverages, mining of coal and lignite, extraction of peat, mining of
metal ores, manufacture of wearing apparel, dressing and dyeing of fur,
tanning, dressing of leather, manufacture of textiles, collection,
purification and distribution of water, other mining and quarrying,
manufacture of wood and wooden products, manufacture of luggage,
handbags, saddlery harness, and footwear, production of other
non-metallic mineral products, manufacture of fabricated metal
products, except machinery and equipment, manufacture of electrical
machinery and apparatus etc. divisions.Compared with the same period of
previous year, the production of 58.1% of main industrial products
increased, while the remaining 41.9% decreased. Production of main
items of industrial products, thermal energy, molibdenium concentrate,
copper concentrate, crude oil, combed down, book, medical tablets,
liquid medicine, injection, meat, spirit, alcohol, wine, bakery
products, sweets, metal foundries increased by volume, coal, gold,
fluor spar concentrate, electricity, metal steel, copper, lime, metal
sleeper, newspaper, wheat flour, bread, milk, dairy products, soft
drinks, macaroni noodles, biscuit, fodder etc. decreased by volume.In
the first two months of 2006, production of industry (at current
prices) on 221.3 bln.togrogs sold at domestic and foreign market.
