PM Mongolia visits Sumo Japan PDF Print E-mail

Mongolian Prime Minister Mr. M.Enkhbold is paying working visit to Japan at the invitation of the Japanese Premier Mr. J.Koizumi. Mr. Enkhbold has launched his visit from the Osaka City to interest in the final day competition of the Japanese professional sumo tournament - haru bashyo- where Mongolian sumo wresters displayed brilliant successes. The Premier presented the certificate and cup named after the Mongolian State Head to the tournament winner Asashoryu D.Dagvadorj, who is the state honored athlete of Mongolia and Grand Champion of the Japanese projessional sumo tournament. The cup was refined in 2003 under the initiative of Mr. Enkhbold, who was the Ulaanbaatar City Mayor and Vice President of the Mongolian Sumo Association. After the award handing ceremony, the Premier visited the Takasaga sumo-wrestling ring of the Grand Champion Asashoryu D.Dagvadorj. Three Mongolian youths left for Japan 16 years ago to train in sumo wrestling and now there 35 Mongolian sumo wrestlers, who make a weighty contribution to the ties between the two nations. Mr. Enkhbold with his accompanying delegates arrived in Tokyo on Monday morning to go on his visit.
