China's Mongolians Claimed as Descendants of Chinggis' Brother PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 April 2006

China’s People’s Daily Online reports that a noted Mongolian studies expert claims that “two thirds of the people who claim Mongolian descent in China came from tribes governed by Khasar, the brother of ancient Mongolian emperor Chinggis Khaan.”

Khasar is regarded by Mongolians as one of the greatest statesman and militarists in Mongolian history. Official statistics show that today’s Mongolian population in China is 5.8 million, and 3.7 million of them are living in the regions once governed by Khasar.

However the article does not divulge any other facts to prove that these people are direct descendants from Khasar’s area of rule. Other previous studies have shown that around 15 million people in Asia are all descendants of one person, which many believe to be Chinggis.
