Union to have the Prime Minister bid with others for Mongolian Artists Celebrates Best Works of 2005

The time to celebrate the best of fine arts of 2005 is coming soon
together with the opening of the annual exhibition “Best works of 2005”
on December 15, 2005 at the Union of Mongolian Artists Arts Gallery.
The best of Mongolian fine arts to display on the final exhibition are
selected by the 9 members of the UMA Board make selections from the
works of any Mongolian artists who opened exhibitions domestically or
internationally during that year.
Starting from 2003, the UMA began to celebrate the best of Mongolian
fine arts of all kinds including paintings, installations, graphics,
sculpture, murals and traditional arts in an annual exhibition. The
exhibition was aimed to report the activities of UMA during the whole
year, to identify and introduce Mongolian fine arts development to the
public, to increase the skills and achievements of artists and to
select and acknowledge the best achievement and work of the year
awarding with the most honored UMA award. It could become motivation
and encouragement for artists to innovate and create new works and
there has been visible growth in achievements and aspirations among
artists during this three year period.
The highlight of the “Best Works of 2005” exhibition is the third Grand
Art Auction organized by UMA and the Arts Council of Mongolia, as this
event provides fine art lovers, professionals and the National Fine
Arts Fund with equal opportunities to purchase the best of these fine
art works. From the very first auction, it could become an important
event and the National Committee of Fine Arts aims to purchase the best
works of Mongolian artists from a national fund. As the auction is of
importance to support fine arts development in Mongolia, the Prime
Minister, Ts.Elbegdorjhas taken this event under his patronage since
last year.
“The Grand Auction of this year is special because it’s organized in
the frame of the preparation work for the 800th anniversary of the
Great Mongol Empire. The artists are more focusing into Mongolian
traditions, nomadic culture and philosophy. They seek new ways to
express Mongolian way of ideology and enrich the traditional way of
painting, creating and even crafts traditions are developed. The other
big work that we are doing is the catalogue of the best works of the
year. It’s not only for Grand Auction invitees and attendants, but it’s
for the sake of fine arts. It’s a documentation of importance” says
P.Tsegmid, Vice Chair of UMA.
The Grand Art Auction will be held on December 16, 2005 at the Arts Gallery of Union of Mongolian Artists.
The “Best works –2005” exhibition consists of over 100 best works and
will be on display until January 4, 2006 at the UMA Arts Gallery.
