Tuesday, 25 April 2006
Mongolia Web News, Ulaanbaatar. The Peace bridge hasn't been reconstructed since chinese workers built it in 1963, but now in the year of Mongolia's celebration of 800 years statehood, the bridge will be revamped. Reconstruction of Ulaanbaatar’s Peace Bridge is scheduled to start on May 1and agreement for work on the bridge was signed on April 5, by Chinese Ambassador Gao Shumao and Ulaanbaatar Mayor Ts.Batbayar.
The bridge is the main entrance to Ulaanbaatar and is on the main road from the international airport to the city. It is reported that only one way at the time will be closed, but still there will be serious influence on the already gridlocked traffic of Ulaanbaatar. Reasoning for the reconstruction is the possible safety issues that might occur if no immediate action is taken.

The Peace Bridge in Ulaanbaatar will be reconstructed with 19 million yuans investment from China. The bridge is 380 meter-long and 11 meter -wide. The Mongolian side will provide workers with food and accommodation and coordinate the road traffic. The reconstruction is supposed to complete on November 1, 2006.
